Questions people ask

Where does the price data come from?

All prices, market capitalisations, volumes and chart history come from the CoinGecko API, which aggregates trading data from hundreds of exchanges. Your browser requests the data directly from CoinGecko; we do not alter the figures.

How often do the prices update?

Every 60 seconds while the page is open and visible. When you switch to another tab we pause the requests and refresh as soon as you come back. The time of the last successful update is shown next to the data.

Why is the price here different from my exchange?

Each exchange has its own order book, so prices differ slightly between venues. The figure here is an aggregate across many markets and can also be up to a minute old. For a trade, the only price that counts is the one your exchange quotes at that moment.

What does market capitalisation mean?

Market capitalisation is the current price multiplied by the circulating supply. It is a quick way to compare the size of different assets, but it is not the amount of money that has been invested and it is not what the asset could be sold for.

Is anything on this site investment advice?

No. Tickerbook publishes market data and plain explanations of how to read it. We do not make recommendations, price predictions or rankings of what to buy, and nothing here takes your personal circumstances into account.

Can I buy or sell crypto on Tickerbook?

No. We do not offer trading, wallets, custody or accounts, and we do not link to exchanges. The site is read-only market information.

Do you use cookies or track visitors?

No. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising tags. Your theme choice and a short-lived copy of the latest market data are kept in your own browser storage so pages load faster.

Which currency are prices shown in?

All prices and totals are shown in US dollars. Percentage changes are calculated by CoinGecko against the US dollar price at the start of each period.

4 measures

What the numbers mean

Four numbers carry most of what a market page tells you. Pick one to see what it measures and where people misread it.

Price

The last aggregated trade price in US dollars, with the change over the past 1 hour, 24 hours and 7 days. Candles show where price opened, closed and ranged in each period.

Market cap

Price multiplied by circulating supply. It shows each asset's share of the total market and explains why one coin can cost more than another yet be smaller.

Volume

The dollar value traded in the last 24 hours across tracked exchanges. High volume with a price move suggests broad participation; thin volume means moves can be fragile.

Supply

Circulating supply is what trades today, total supply is what exists, maximum supply is the protocol cap. Some assets have no cap at all, which matters for long-term dilution.
