About BNB
BNB was created in 2017 by the Binance exchange. It started as a token on Ethereum and later moved to Binance's own networks; today it is the native asset of BNB Smart Chain, where it pays transaction fees.
BNB Smart Chain uses a proof of staked authority model with a limited set of validators. The initial supply was 200 million BNB, and a scheduled burn programme removes tokens over time with a stated target of 100 million.
