TRON is a smart contract blockchain founded by Justin Sun in 2017; its own mainnet went live in 2018. TRX is the native asset, used for fees and for voting on the network's block producers.
TRON runs delegated proof of stake. Holders vote for 27 Super Representatives that produce blocks, which keeps confirmation times short and fees low.
A large share of the USDT stablecoin supply circulates on TRON, which makes the network a major route for stablecoin transfers. TRX trading volume does not include those USDT transfers.
